Scratch Programming

Developed by MIT, Scratch is the perfect starter program for your young maker to learn to code!  As children create with Scratch, they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically.  There is also an online community where children can program and share interactive media such as stories, games, and animation with people from all over the world.

July 10-14
Aug 14-18

Cost: $399
Recommended for students ages 7+.*

Must have basic keyboard knowledge.

2D Platform Game Maker

In this program we use Game Maker Studio to create a 2D game with multiple levels, each one harder than the last.  Collect tokens, defeat enemies with projectiles, and avoid pitfalls and obstacles.  Create your own characters ("sprites") and design a different background for each level.  Animate your characters, collectibles, obstacles, and projectiles.  This program is a combination of 2D art, design, and programming.

Dates:
July 17-21

Cost: $399
Recommended for students in grades 3+.*

Minecraft Mods Maker

We don't have to tell you what Minecraft is!  One of the most popular video games, kids can build almost anything in Minecraft.  In our program they will learn how to build their own mod (short for "modifications") allowing them to design their own blocks, items, and recipes!  Students will learn the basics of coding logic, including functions, loops, and boolean logic principles.  All while creating mods they can continue working even after the program is over!  Students will also have time to play with the mods created by the other students in the program.

Dates:
July 24-28

Cost: $399
Recommended for students in grades 3+.*

3D Animation

During this program the students will use the Alice 3D design software to learn how to setup a 3D scene and program the objects and camera to move in the 3D environment. The students will work throughout the week to create their own unique 3D animation as they learn the principles of object oriented programming.

Dates:

August 7 - 11

Cost: $399

Recommended for students in grades 3+.*

LEGO Robotics

This program uses the LEGO EV3 Mindstorm kit.  Students will work in teams and build robots to solve fun challenges, such as autonomous maze navigation using infrared sensors and hitting targets based on color using a color sensor.  Building and coding these bots develops creativity, coding logic, and teamwork skills, and it's a lot of fun!

Dates:
August 21-25

Cost: $399
